Daydreams do come true - January 20, 2009, Washington DC, Presidential Inauguration
Posted January 23rd, 2009 by zak

There I was among more than a million others who showed up for the inauguration of president Barack Obama. It was almost surreal. There really were over a million people in one place, all there to witness the peaceful transition of power. I was there because I wanted to feel hopeful. I spent most of the day walking among the crowds, sometimes unable to choose in which direction to walk because the current of tens of thousands of people would carry me to wherever it was going and there was no going against that current. At one point, just before the actual swearing in ceremony began, as I was about to settle under one of the hundreds of huge screens to watch the ceremony, I noticed person after person snacking on the same brand of honey onion pretzels. They were everywhere! Later I learned that the manufacturer was giving them away by the truck load. I guess they figured an event with 1.5 million attendees was as good a place as any to do some brand building marketing. But at the time my mind wandered and I thought of a day when walking around some major event I might find people snacking, not on chemically grown, artificially processed, fried bread but instead on healthy, nutritious, organically grown and fairly traded sustainable snacks. I daydreamed about when I might find Kopali's organic and fair trade SUPERGOOD SUPERFOOD snacks among such a crowd. That will be the day... Sure enough, not a minute after these daydreams, as I walked among those who had began to settle on the Washington memorial hillside, I looked down and saw a bag of Kopali's Organic Fair Trade Dark Chocolate Covered Nibs!!! I am not embellishing the story at all! This is exactly how it happened. Of course I couldn't help but introducing myself to the sweet family who had made my daydream come true. As you can see, took photos too... :-)![]()
